Sacred Heart of Jesus School is currently conducting “Discovery Walks” that evaluate our school and classrooms. Our Discovery Walk team is comprised of administration and two faculty members, as well as other Catholic school administrators and a “coach” who is guiding the Diocese through these evaluations. Our coach, Janice, conducts these data-gathering walks frequently across many civil parishes n Louisiana. On her two visits to SHS, Janice has made several comments to our team in reference to our school. She prefaced her comments by assuring us that she does not “sugar coat” or praise where praise is not due. She strongly stated that SHS is a “happy place” filled with very well-behaved, happy children. She said it is a consequence of caring adults who provide a loving, challenging program. She praised our teachers for being very well prepared and for providing meaningful lessons. She was impressed with our total program. Janice’s purpose is not to “judge” our school; her purpose is to guide us through the Discovery Walk process of gathering data by visiting the classrooms and noting our observations onto a template. But it is satisfying and uplifting to know that she thinks so highly of our teachers and our students. She knows a sound program when she sees one. SHS OPEN HOUSE Tuesday, January 31 9 a.m. - 1 p.m.
Registration is in the SHS Gym, followed by a student-led tour of the school. Administration and current parents will be on hand to answer questions.
