SiMon Franklin '08, a senior business management major at Xavier University, was named Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Player of the Week in women's basketball for December 24-30. She scored a career high 25 points and nine rebounds in Xavier's 66-64 loss to Faulkner. She is closing the gap on 1,000 career points. SiMon is the team's only senior and is team captain. She will compete on Xavier's track and field team after basketball season. |

DAVID BENETTO '05
David Benedetto '05, a senior at LSU, attended the Philipps-Universitat in Marburg, Germany, in the spring of 2012. The program included six weeks of intense German grammar and conversation, as well as classes in German culture. He also took two regular university classes in American Culture and Post 9/11 Literature. He spent extensive time traveling in France, Switzerland, Italy, Praque, Austria and Spain. "Throughout these travels I met some incredible people with varying backgrounds from all over the world. I was put into situations where I had to learn new languages and find my way around large cities with little help. I have seen some of the world's most beautiful places, including my ancestors' homeland, Sicily. I have been journaling extensively, learning how to establish my voice as a writer by using all these new and wonderful exeriences." David is working on his thesis for the LSU Honors College and will graduate in May with a B.A. in English. |

CULLEN HODGES '09
Cullen Hodges '09, a Catholic High School senior, has received the Louisiana State University Chancellor's Alumni Scholars Award, which recognizes the top ten incoming LSU freshmen for fall 2013. To qualify for this prestigious award, students must have a minimum ACT score of 33 or critical reading and math SAT score of 1440, along with a computed, six-semester high school GPA of at least a 3.0. Cullen will receive a tuition exemption, on-campus room and board scholarship and a onetime $2,000 study-abroad stipend. He will also have the opportunity to earn up to an additional $1,550 per year by participating in the Chancellor's Future Leaders in Research Program. Cullen was also named a National Merit Commended Student. |

Glynn Auburn O'Neill '09, a senior at St. Michael High School and a guard for the Lady Warriors basketball team, has been named to the All-Academic Composite Team. All-Academic Composite Teams are composed of those senior student-athletes with the highest grade point average from all classes or divisions in their sport. Glynn Auburn is one of 53 female basketball players from across the state who holds a 4.0 GPA or higher. |

The District 5-5A Offensive MVP, Khalil has signed to play football for McNeese State University. He was also a finalist for the 2013 Warrick Dunn Award. Khalil represented CHS in the 2012 U.S. Army Red Stick Bowl all-star game on Saturday, December 15, 2012. |
